Our goal is to assist parents in teaching Biblical truths to their children, so they can grasp the comprehensive and holistic message of the Bible. It is our prayer that each child accepts God's gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, and grows daily in his or her relationship with Him.  Sunday School is from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. each Sunday.  There are Sunday School classes for Pre-school-2nd, and Grades 3rd - 6th. All classes study the same scripture.   \*Additionally, at 9:00 a.m. weekly we have refreshments in our Family Life Center.  A nursery for infants and toddlers through age 2 (under the age of 3) is provided for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning worship service as well as during the Sunday School hour at 9:15am. A nursery is also oftentimes provided for special events, being well staffed with caring, responsible adults, providing clean toys and a crib. During the worship service children that are Preschool aged thru 3rd (during the school year only for the older group) are dismissed to attend Children's Church after songs. This allows the young children to be with their parents and family during the praise and worship time of the service, and then to be dismissed during the Bible preaching time. At Children's Church, the children will hear a Bible lesson presented at their age level, along with other activities and/or crafts. The children leave Children's Church with a Take Home Page so families can discuss their lesson together, as well as other activities you can do together Awana focuses on bible memory and comprehension, seeking to engage children with the treasure of God's word in a fun, faith filled environment Wednesday's throughout the school year beginning in September. From 6:15-8:15 Boys and Girls age 3 (potty-trained) through eighth grade. Anyone is welcome for a time of singing, Bible lessons, and teaching, as well as games. A committed and enthusiastic team of leaders are always ready to spend time with the club members. Meeting in the Sanctuary for large group worship at 6:15 before breaking into smaller groups for study and games. The mission of the universal Church is to glorify God by making disciples through the gospel of Jesus Christ. God’s mission and the mission of His Church are inseparably linked. If God’s mission is to be glorified through the redemption and reconciliation of a people, the Church’s mission must orient around the glory of God and seek to glorify Him through redemption and reconciliation. The mission of the Church is highlighted in 2 Corinthians 5. As those who have been reconciled to God through the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are now ambassadors of reconciliation to a lost and broken world. We plead, urge, implore, reason, pray, serve, preach, teach and gather to see God glorified through reconciliation. At Anthem, this mission is best displayed in our communities, where we daily have the chance of living out the Gospel to those around us. What is the glory of God? The glory of God is the gravity that keeps those who see and savor it from spinning off into the spacious trivialities of sin. God’s desire is that He might be known and enjoyed for His nature and character. We believe that the center of the gospel is the glory and grace of Jesus Christ, so we strive to be a church that is centered on the gospel and reconciled to God through Christ. We preach the grace of Jesus unapologetically because it is God’s grace that trains us to be holy (Titus 2:11-12). Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we can now be reconciled to God. Our mission is to preach this gospel unapologetically to the world. Though each Christian has a personal relationship with God, that relationship is not individual or private. The Christian faith is not intended to be lived in isolation. We were made for community; relationship with God and with each other. The local church is not merely a place that we attend but a people to whom we belong. The Bible calls us members of the body (1 Corinthians 12:12-31) with the expectation that we contribute to the body for the glory of God and the good of His people. Reconciliation with others means living in a Gospel-centered community together; a radical call amid a culture of mere attendance and casual involvement. It involves mutual love, care, consistency and authenticity as we seek to adorn the person and work of Christ with our lives. Anthem's story is as unique as each of our own. The beautiful thing about Anthem's story is that God's grace and love are so deeply woven into the fibers of who we are that any success or prosperity we've experienced is a direct result of God's favor. Having limitless knowledge and sovereign power, God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things for His own glory. 2. We believe that God has spoken in the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, through the words of human authors. As the verbally inspired Word of God, the Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises. 3. We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan. In union with Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath. Only through God's saving work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed. 4. We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, one Person in two natures. Jesus-Israel's promised Messiah-was conceived through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontious Pilate, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate. 5. We believe that Jesus Christ, as our representative and substitute, shed His blood on the cross as the perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation. 6. We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of its guilt. He regenerates sinners, and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. 7. We believe that the true church comprises all who have been justified by God's grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. The true church is manifest in local churches, whose membership should be composed only of believers. The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord's Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer. 8. We believe that God's justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially, and to live out our faith with care for one another, compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. With God's Word, the Spirit's power, and fervent prayer in Christ's commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word and deed. 9. We believe in the personal, bodily and premillennial return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission. 10. We believe that God commands everyone everywhere to believe the gospel by turning to Him in repentance and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world, assigning the unbeliever to condemnation and eternal conscious punishment and the believer to eternal blessedness and joy with the Lord in the new heaven and the new earth,to the praise of His glorious grace. Dave has served in various pastoral roles in Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Kansas. Pastor's passion is to propel you forward in being conformed to the image of Christ, our Savior. When not shepherding our congregation, Dave is probably not far from his smoker or cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Lane is a lifelong Winfield resident, where he runs a musical instrument repair and piano tuning business, Turgeon Musical ReSolutions. He is married to his wife Keren, and has a son named Arthur. He helps with the worship team at CBF, and leads the youth group with events of games, friendship, and most importantly directing them to Jesus.  For fun he enjoys playing music, Call of Duty, and being insufferable telling people that he has perfect pitch.  Chris has served in the Awana ministry for over 35 years. She has been married to her husband Larry since July of 1978. They have three married daughters; and five grandchildren. All three of their daughters earned their Awana "Timothy" Awards as children!  Chris lives in Douglass, KS where she is a Paraeducator at Seal Elementary. Chris graduated from Calvary Bible College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Local Church Education. She has been married to Chad McGathy since July of 2006. LaTonya has been involved in Awana serving as the Awana secretary since 2015. She also oversees the Children's Ministry by doing scheduling and the annual Children's Christmas Programs! This is our process for discipleship. Out of this gospel-centered service is the overflow of discipleship, serving those in and outside the church. One of the ways we pursue and live out this discipleship trait is through volunteer opportunities Volunteers in Anthem Kids minister to our 1st - 5th graders during weekend worship services through singing, telling stories and teaching the truth of God's Word with the children. They check in kids, lead classrooms, provide assistance to classroom teachers and sing or play in the worship band. We're always looking for great individuals to love and serve our kids, and help show the love of Christ to them during our gatherings. If you're someone who would like to serve, or just know a little bit more about Anthem Kids, please connect with us. **Sunday Gatherings:**Those serving in our Student Ministry on Sundays get the opportunity to build and foster relationships with students, ministering them through the teaching of Scripture, worship and intentional discipleship.  **Midweek Gatherings:**Student Ministries also meets together midweek for games, community, teaching and bible discussions. We start the evening together playing games and hearing a message, specially crafted for middle and high school students. **Sunday Gatherings:** Our Sunday morning gatherings are the beginning for most people at Anthem. We need people who can serve as set-up and greeters, as well as members of the worship team.  **Community Groups:** Because our Community Groups are so central to the life here at Anthem, we are always in need of more people to host, lead and co-lead a group. Donating your time is not the only way to serve at Anthem. There are recurring costs to operating and staffing our ministry, as well as helping us do work throughout our community and the world. We believe that God calls us to give, and to give generously. We give you a chance to worship in this way on our website. Church can be an intimidating place to visit — especially if you don’t know what to expect. We invite you to experience what the gospel means both intellectually and relationally at one of our Sunday worship services. We hope that through visiting with us, you will experience the hope, love and joy that comes from a community of people who love Jesus. We look for God’s love in our lives as the evidence that we have been truly worshipping Him. At Anthem Church, worship is central to everything. Worship means learning to recognize God’s goodness while delighting to deepen in our responses.  It means purposing together, as individuals and as a community, to unite our actions, intentions, and emotions in loving response to God. It means transforming the ways we think so that what we do and who we are become one—in, for, through, and to the Father, Son, and Spirit. We believe that practical, relevant teaching is the catalyst for transformation in an individual's life. Scripture is inspired by God, completely accurate and our authority regarding Christian beliefs and the guide for Christian living. We value Scripture—the Bible—as the basis for understanding who God is and how to orient our lives fully around Him. You can expect that each Sunday morning will include a set-aside time for hearing from Scripture, as well as practical teaching surrounding God's Word. The Winfield Evangelical Free Church was formed from this Bible study and began conducting worship services on June 7, 1970. The first Sunday service consisted of 40 signed members, including seven children under the age of 16. Pastor William D. Ritchey served the church from 1970 to 1978; Interim Pastor Hal Mobley from 1978 to 1979; Pastor Don Hale from 1979-1982; Interim Pastor Randall Rice from 1982 to 1983; Pastor George Hines from 1983 to 1986; Pastor Steven Strom from 1987-1999; Interim Jack Smith from 1999 to 2000 and current Senior Pastor, Scott Schaefer who has been here since April 2000. The Winfield congregation began with a Bible study in a private home. A group visited the Wichita First Evangelical Free Church and, in a meeting with its past, R. W. Houser, first learned about the programs of the Free Church. District Superintendent, Stanley Westlund, led the first group study in May 1969, but because of his failing health, Rev. Houser took responsibility for the group. For a year following June 1969, the Bible study group was led by Pastor Houser and met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Case, who were missionaries on furlough from Mexico at the time. In May 1970, the group bought the present plot of ground on which the church building stands today, which at the time, was just east of Winfield, but is now part of the city. The organizational meeting was held June 2, 1970, in the Community Council room, and the charter membership was opened. Sunday services began June 7 in the Whittier School Auditorium and met there until November of that year. At that time the American Red Cross building on West Ninth was rented for three services a week. It was in this building in February 1973 that the decision was made to build. On Sunday, March 18, 1973, the groundbreaking services were held on the building site located just east of the city on Highway 160. The first service was held in the new building on Christmas Sunday in 1973, but the building wasn't dedicated until April 28, 1974. With the sponsoring of new ministries through the years, there has been a steady growth in attendance, making necessary two Sunday morning services and consideration of more space. This became a challenge and in March 1993, a groundbreaking ceremony started a 12,000-square-foot addition to the building. In October that same year, it was dedicated. This large, full-gymnasium, multi-purpose structure provides space for more ministries, such as our Awana and Student Ministries. In September of 2010 a very large windstorm hit our sanctuary, ripping off the roof of our sanctuary. We used this opportunity to remodel our sanctuary, add a separate foyer, move our offices to our main facility and remodel our children's classrooms downstairs. We used our Family Life Center for worship services for one year and moved back into our remodeled sanctuary in September, 2011, dedicating it to our Lord. We praise God for how He has blessed our church family, and how He uses us to advance His eternal kingdom. We are currently in a series called Basic by Francis Chan focusing on the fundamental elements of our faith in God and our role in the church. Sunday mornings 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the FLC Loft We are currently walking in depth through the book of Genesis and grounding ourselves in the foundations of the Bible and Theology. By giving to world missions, we help fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. Our Faith Promise Missions Fund is a separate fund from our General Fund and is solely dedicated to world missions. A Faith Promise is simply an agreement you make with God to give to world missions. It’s a promise because of your commitment to provide a certain amount over a specific time period for world missions. It requires faith because you trust God to provide these funds in various ways. Faith Promise gifts do not replace our giving to the General Fund; rather they are gifts we wish to designate for world missions. While no one will ever ask you about your Faith Promise gift, you are asked to indicate your intentions on the response portion of this brochure. This lets the church plan wisely for regular monthly missionary support. All Faith Promise fund gifts are used for world evangelism. Recommendations on disbursement of these gifts are made by the Missions Committee subject to the approval of the congregation. This brochure shows how Faith Promise Missions Fund gifts are currently being used. Getting involved is easy. A native of Russia, Peter is the president (Rector) of Moscow Theological Seminary. Besides training in the theological school, Peter is Vice President of the Russian Baptist Association. Peter has also been serving as the senior pastor at Golgatha Baptist Church in Moscow since 1997. Your Faith Promise Missions gifts have been working through Peter’s ministry since 1992. Their website is very nice and has short videos of Peter. They especially need our prayers, as the Russian government has made things more difficult for Christians. Children’s Haven International (CHI) in Reynosa Mexico provides a home to needy children from broken, abandoned, abused, or impoverished children. We have provided financial support and 3 short term mission outreaches to these kids and CHI. Consider going on the next trip! Talk to any who have gone and find out more. Your Faith Promise Missions gifts have been helping CHI since 2014. They lost their gym due to a fire this last year. This seminary is housed in Russia and is video based, training mostly third world pastors in the truths of God’s Word through professors at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (EFCA) having their videotaped classes translated into eight different languages. There are currently over 3,500 students worldwide with tutors to assist the students. The leader of the seminary is Vitaly Petrov. The U.S. seminary representative is Peggy Valentine. We began supporting TVS in 2019. The war has come within ten miles of the seminary. Pray for its protection. Leinier and Carla Casanueva are helping lead Awana clubs across the country and also training parents and churches to train their children in Scripture to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.  We have been supporting the Casanuevas since the beginning of 2021. [James BiakLian & wife Sui have been working in Myanmar since 1992. They are working in a very hostile political world. They continue to teach & train pastors in their native language, as well as pastor a church and lead a fellowship of over 30 other churches across the country. They have rebuilt after a fire and helped after floods, and continue to teach and train workers for our Lord.](mailto:jblian143@gmail.com) Ramesh Richard and his ministry RREACH, Int. have a unique opportunity to serve the Lord on a truly global scale. By looking for key places to minister, RREACH has the vision of making a global impact through taking advantage of strategic opportunities. These opportunities have included giving Bible study aids and training seminars to third-world pastors, sponsoring key evangelical students so they can study and prepare for ministry, spread the Gospel via a worldwide TV broadcast, and provide buildings in third world countries so the Gospel can be proclaimed. Your Faith Promise Missions gifts have been at work through the ministry of RREACH since 1989. Only 5% of the world’s Christian pastors have seminary training, so RREACH ministry provides a very needed service to 3rd world pastors. Greg Williams is serving in Tel Aviv, Israel with Jews for Jesus. With the growing hostility against Israel, Israelites are becoming more open to God. He is making a difference in a very mixed culture, working in the Behold Your God Campaign by Jews for Jesus in various places around the world to reach Jews for Christ. The Jews for Jesus website is very informative. We have supported this ministry since 2009.  WMA Focuses on Evangelizing and distributing Bibles in the most hostile of countries: Nepal, Northern Iraq, Egypt, China and Russia and entering new countries in Europe and Africa. They are now also often providing medical clinics. We have supported them since 2008.  The Wichita India Project (WIP) is a strategic plan involving a number of area churches to saturate the unreached Visianagaram people in the region of southern India with the Gospel. In conjunction with the India Gospel League, this plan supports Dr. Samuel Stephens and involves evangelism, church planting, church building, and pastoral training so that the 300,000 inhabitants of this region can know Christ. India has begun to make life harder for Christians, where they automatically are put in the lowest caste. Your Faith Promise gifts have been a part of this project since 1997. **Please prayerfully consider what God would have you give to our Faith Promise Missions Fund to help further the Gospel of Christ world wide.
